Rock icon John Corabi is featured in a new interview with Metal Mayhem ROC, discussing his new solo album, New Day, arriving April 24.
In the conversation, Corabi talks about approaching New Day as a true solo project, writing with longtime collaborator Marty Fredriksen, and allowing the songs to develop organically without chasing trends or categories.
Corabi breaks down the meaning behind the title track, the visual approach to the music video, and how the album reflects where he is creatively today.
The discussion also dives into Corabi’s all-star touring band, how the lineup came together, and what fans can expect from upcoming U.S.
and international dates.
Corabi shares his creative process on New Day:,“This was probably the most effortless record I’ve ever done in my life.
I don’t think I broke a sweat at any point.
“We’d sit around with acoustic guitars, map the songs out, and once we had enough ideas, we just went in and started laying things down.
Even then, things kept changing and that was a good thing.
I wanted to make a record like the ones I grew up listening to.
You just write songs and let other people worry about where it fits.” The album features the previously released singles “Così Bella (So Beautiful)” and “Your Own Worst Enemy,” now presented as part of a rich collection of tracks that spotlight his commanding vocals, heartfelt lyrics, and masterful songwriting.
New Day marks John Corabi’s first full-length solo album of original material.
Recorded in Nashville during the summer of 2025 and produced by multi-platinum songwriter and producer Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, Buckcherry), the album fuses classic ’70s rock, soul, and blues influences into a sound that feels both timeless and deeply personal.
The record features an all-star lineup including Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses) on lead guitar, Paul Taylor (Winger, Steve Perry) contributing piano, organ, and clavinet, as well as Charlie Starr (Blackberry Smoke) offering guitar solos.
With a European tour planned for February/March 2026 and additional shows running through late spring and summer, Corabi is poised to bring this new music directly to fans, delivering both powerful live energy and genuine emotional resonance.
