In a new interview with Spain's Metal Journal, JUDAS PRIEST bassist Ian Hill confirmed that he and his bandmates have commenced work on the follow-up to their 2024 album 'Invincible Shield'.

Speaking with Rob Halford, Hill shared that most of the music has been completed, with only one additional track left to record.

The guitarist added that they have already started working on vocals for the new material.

"We've done most of the music, or all the backing tracks anyway; we've got them down," he explained.

"There might be one extra [song] to do.

But the vast majority of it, the backing tracks have been done." Hill also discussed the musical direction of the band's new material, stating that it is a bit more traditional than their previous album 'Invincible Shield', but with some quirky elements.

When asked if this means the new album will be similar to classic PRIEST LPs like "British Steel", Hill clarified that while there are some similarities, the new music is not as straightforward as those albums.

Regarding the band's future, Ian mentioned that PRIEST can continue to tour and record even if he or Halford decide to retire from the band.

"There's no reason why not," he said.

"I mean, we've already got through about six or seven drummers, four guitarists and two vocalists.

So, why not?" In other news, PRIEST guitarist Richie Faulkner has been sharing updates on the band's recording sessions for their new album.

He recently revealed that they have completed most of the work, including drum tracks, bass tracks, and guitar tracks.

The band will release a career-spanning collection called "The Best Of Judas Priest" on June 19 via Sony Music.

This collection celebrates one of the most influential and enduring bands in heavy metal history.

JUDAS PRIEST continues to showcase their live shows across continental Europe this summer and has upcoming festival appearances at Bloodstock Open Air in the UK on August 9 and a headline show at Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith on September 21.

An in-depth documentary, "The Ballad Of Judas Priest", will be released later this year, offering an intimate look into the band's vast career.
