International symphonic metal legends Kamelot have unveiled their haunting new album, Dark Asylum, set for release August 28 via Napalm Records.
The announcement marks the band’s 14th studio album and continues their legacy as a dominant force in modern metal, with previous releases including Haven, The Shadow Theory, and The Awakening — the latter of which reached #2 on the Billboard Hard Rock chart and entered the German Top 10.
The band has also released a new single and music video titled "Ashen World," featuring vocalist Ignacia Fernández of Decessus.
This marks the first time Fernández has been featured on a Kamelot release, highlighting a cross-band collaboration.
In a separate development, Decessus — the death metal band fronted by Ignacia Fernández — has shared a pro-shot video of their live performance of "The Hollow Descent" at the Premios Pulsar Awards.
The performance makes history as the first metal band to perform at Chile’s national music awards.
Fernández recently participated in an in-depth interview with SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal host Jose Mangin, where she opened up about her journey into the Miss World Chile competition and her identity as a metal vocalist.
She emphasized that participating in the pageant was about more than appearance — it was about using the platform to advocate for animal rights, a cause she is deeply passionate about.
"I’m not afraid of being who I am," Fernández said.
"I know it’s not common to have a metal vocalist in a beauty contest, but I’m absolutely aware of that.
I’m not afraid to show how I am." The interview, available on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal channel 40 and via the SiriusXM app, includes clips and transcriptions provided by Octane.
Fernández also reflected on her decision to perform a song from Decessus at the competition, stating: "I was going to sing a song from my band to at least show what I do.
Because then if I did another song from, I don’t know, Arch Enemy, I didn’t want them to be mad at me."
