In a recent interview with Igor Miranda of Rolling Stone Brasil, KORN guitarist James 'Munky' Shaffer spoke about the progress of writing and recording sessions for the band's long-awaited follow-up to their 2022 album “REquiem.” Shaffer mentioned that it's taking a long time due to the band's high standards and desire to keep their original sound intact.

He stated, “We’re very particular because we wanna keep our original sound.

You can't really get away from that — when we start playing, it sounds like KORN, especially with all five of us.” Shaffer also talked about the current status of original bassist Reginald 'Fieldy' Arvizu, who announced a hiatus in 2021 to focus on his mental health.

He stated that Fieldy's absence has made them realize how much they value their band members and emphasized the importance of prioritizing everyone's well-being.

Shaffer expressed his gratitude for Fieldy's decision to take care of himself, saying, “We want him to be happy, and it didn’t really feel like he was happy being a working musician at the time.

I wouldn’t say 'split', because… I still use the word 'hiatus'.” The band's new song “Reward The Scars,” part of the soundtrack for the Diablo IV: Lord Of Hatred expansion pack, marks KORN's first new music in over four years.
