In a new interview with Angela Croudace of Australia's Heavy, LACUNA COIL co-vocalist Andrea Ferro spoke about the band's early success after forming nearly three decades ago in Milan, Italy.

Ferro said, "It's been very step by step.

We've been fortunate enough to grow up in the era where bands could still develop.

You didn't expect you to do one record and — boom — explode." He attributed their third album 'Comalies' (2002) as the turning point for their success.

Ferro also discussed Italy's metal scene, stating that it was harder for them to gain traction compared to other European countries like the UK or Scandinavia.

However, he noted that France and Spain are growing markets for metal, with GOJIRA's success being a significant factor in this growth.

LACUNA COIL is one of the first bands to achieve international success from Italy.

The band has recently announced the 2026 leg of their 'Sleepless Empire' US tour, which will feature special guests ESCAPE THE FATE, VOWWS, and AXTY.

The tour kicks off in New York on March 24 and concludes in Albany on May 1.

LACUNA COIL's latest album 'Sleepless Empire' was released in February 2025 via Century Media Records.

The band's guitarist Daniele Salomone joined LACUNA COIL as a replacement for Diego Cavallotti, who left the band in June 2024 after nearly eight years of service.

Ferro expressed gratitude towards Cavallotti and praised his contributions to the band.
