Lamb of God are gearing up to release their tenth studio album, Into Oblivion, on March 13 via Epic Records.
The band's guitarist, Mark Morton, has spoken about the creation process in an interview with Craig Reynolds of Stray From The Path for The Downbeat Podcast.
He revealed that there was no pre-conceived concept or theme heading into the writing process.
"Lamb of God is very collaborative," he explained.
"We don't have a meeting beforehand to discuss our premise.
But I do think collectively we were having conversations about, 'What have we gotten away from?' We've been together for so long and have such a deep understanding of each other's styles that it was more about revisiting the DNA that first defined us." Morton cited Ashes Of The Wake's 20-year anniversary tour as a major catalyst in re-learning older material inside and out.
He also drew inspiration from classic metal bands like The Haunted, At The Gates, and Meshuggah.
"That The Haunted Made Me Do It record is an absolute favorite of mine," Morton said.
"And Slaughter Of The Soul by At The Gates is just a classic record." Morton singled out Destroy Erase Improve as one of his all-time favorite metal albums.
Lamb Of God's Into Oblivion promises to be the heaviest tour of 2026, featuring Kublai Khan TX, Fit For An Autopsy, and Sanguisugabogg on select dates.
The tour kicks off in National Harbor, MD on March 17th and will make stops across North America through April 15th.
