At the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, Mike Shinoda addressed the band's new chapter while reflecting on LINKIN PARK's return to the stage.
"We are thrilled to be back out here," he said.
"It is not about erasing the past.
It is about starting this new chapter into the future and coming out here for each and every one of you." The statement comes after the band introduced its new lineup with vocalist Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain, as well as releasing a new single, "The Emptiness Machine", in support of their album "From Zero".
The album featured the No.
1 single "The Emptiness Machine" and propelled LINKIN PARK to be the only rock band in 2024 to exceed two billion streams.
Shinoda also discussed the band's documentary "Unshatter", which focuses on the band's return after a seven-year hiatus following the death of their singer Chester Bennington.
When asked how he knew Emily was "the one" when it came to finding a replacement for Chester, Mike said: "Well, it's not just the singing, 'cause there's thousands and thousands of great singers out there." The documentary aims to capture the band's journey and musical evolution, with Shinoda stating that they were not thinking about hits while making music.
He also talked about working with Emily and Colin, saying that they were "so fun to hang out with" and "we would always make such good stuff together." LINKIN PARK is currently on their "From Zero" tour, which has been met with excitement from fans.
The band's live shows have seen the introduction of new guitar player Alex Feder, who filled the role left by Brad Delson.
In a separate interview, Mike Shinoda talked about what fans can expect from the documentary "Unshatter", saying: "Don't think reality TV.
It's literally our friend Mark [who did most of the filming].
It's one guy.
We hang out with him all the time." He also discussed how they approached making music after Chester Bennington's death, stating that it was a natural process to find a new singer and drummer to join the band.
The documentary aims to showcase the band's musical evolution and journey since their return.
With "From Zero" being released in May, LINKIN PARK continues to push boundaries with their music.
The band's live shows have been met with enthusiasm from fans, and they are currently on tour with their new lineup.
Shinoda's comments reflect the band's commitment to their art and their desire to connect with their audience.
