German power metal band Lucid Dreaming has released the opening track, "Confederation," from their new album Upon The Barricades.
This provides fans with immediate access to the band's latest concept album, which tells the story of Germany in the first half of the 19th century.
Songwriter Till Oberboßel explains, "It's the story of how we tried to establish a national state after shaking off Napoleon's yoke, how we started a revolution, and how it all failed." The story begins in 1815, following Europe's political and constitutional order as it needs a new layout.
The album features guest vocalists representing Austria's foreign minister Klemens von Metternich, Frederick William III, William I, and Francis I.
True to their motto "more metal - less keyboards," the theme is delivered with power and force.
