Former MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman has confirmed he is working on a new solo album following his 2024 release of "Drama" via Frontiers Music Srl. The album, which he described as his most personal work to date, is set to be followed by a project that he says represents a deeper emotional and musical evolution. Friedman emphasized that each of his albums is a personal benchmark, and he will only release new music when he feels he has achieved something he can be truly satisfied with, surpassing the previous effort.

Friedman has been actively touring in support of "Drama" and announced additional dates for the ongoing tour. He stated that more venues will be revealed soon, indicating continued live engagement with fans. While no official release date has been set, the guitarist confirmed that the new album is in active development and is progressing according to a detailed plan he has formulated over the past several months.

The project builds on Friedman’s long-standing commitment to musical complexity and emotional depth. In previous interviews, he has expressed a dedication to evolving his sound through more intricate melodies and emotional layers, driven by life experiences and expanded musical awareness. This new work continues his artistic trajectory, aiming to explore emotions and musical forms beyond what he has achieved in prior releases.

Friedman’s solo career, which includes multiple albums and collaborations with Japanese artists such as SMAP and MOMOIRO CLOVER, has also been bolstered by his cultural impact in Japan. His 2024 autobiography, "Dreaming Japanese", was released by Permuted Press, further highlighting his deep connection to Japanese music and culture.
