MASTODON has released their long-awaited new album, "Marrow Deep", marking the band's first full-length record without original guitarist and singer Brent Hinds, who was fired in March 2025 and died in a motorcycle accident five months later. The album was co-produced at MASTODON's West End Sound in Atlanta by Patrik Berger and Kurt Ballou, with mixing handled by Andrew Scheps. It features new guitarist Nick Johnston and keyboardist João Nogueira, and is the first MASTODON record to include significant contributions from these members.

The album's thematic core centers on the tragic deaths of Hinds and drummer Brann Dailor's mother, Michele Lawrence, both of whom occurred in February 2025. Dailor confirmed that the band wrote the material during a period of personal turmoil, interrupting their work for the "Leviathan" 20th-anniversary tour with LAMB OF GOD and later completing the sessions after losing Hinds in August 2025. No musical ideas from Hinds were included in the final record, as he did not participate in the writing sessions during the final months of the album's development.

MASTODON will celebrate the release with the "Poisonous Weapons Tour", a nationwide run beginning September 16 in Orlando, Florida, and concluding October 24 at Sick New World in Dallas. The tour features DEAFHEAVEN and ALCEST as supporting acts. The second single from "Marrow Deep", titled "Snakes For Dinner", includes a guest appearance by QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's Josh Homme, who previously collaborated with the band on the 2006 track "Colony Of Birchmen".
