Yet again, Matt Zane has pursued the unapproved documentary surrounding deceased Static-X lead singer Wayne Static, despite opposition from Static's family and estate.
The film was previously ordered to cease production by Static's family in December due to legal concerns over the unauthorized use of Static's image and music.
Zane turned to crowdfunding to continue the project, raising $400 after facing criticism from Static's fans and representatives.
In a post on Instagram, Zane announced that he would be releasing an unreleased track recorded by Wayne Static as part of the documentary's soundtrack.
However, this has been met with resistance from Static-X and his widow Tera Wray's estates, who have declined to grant permission for the use of the unreleased music.
The song was originally intended to appear in Zane's film about Wayne and Tera Wray's lives and relationships.
According to Zane, the estates would be given 100% of the profits from the track if it were released, with Zane stating that he would keep the recordings in their original form as a solo project by Static, rather than as part of Static-X material.
A call has been made for vocalists to submit recordings of themselves performing Wayne Static songs in honor of his style and legacy, due to legal restrictions preventing the use of Static's original vocal tracks.
