Heavy metal institution Megadeth has confirmed that their upcoming self-titled album will serve as the band's final release.

The record marks the conclusion of a storied career for frontman Dave Mustaine, who also founded the influential thrash outfit after departing Metallica in the late 1980s.

Mustaine's tenure with both groups has been well-documented over the years, but the guitarist and vocalist will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most impactful forces behind some of metal's most enduring anthems.

Despite battling throat cancer and hand injuries during the album's creation, Mustaine remains as passionate and snarling as ever on this farewell record.

The band's latest album includes an impressive cover of Metallica's "Ride the Lightning," which features Mustaine reaching for higher vocal registers in a reimagined take on the classic song.

This self-titled release also boasts some truly unforgettable moments, including blistering tracks like ""Hey God!", "Tipping Point," and "Let There Be Shred."" The album concludes with poignant spoken-word passages by Mustaine, accompanied solely by acoustic guitars.
