In a recent interview with Sonar FM, MEGADETH guitarist Teemu MĂ€ntysaari discussed the growing trend of phone-free concerts.
He praised the idea, citing his experience attending a couple of shows where attendees placed their phones in Yondr pouches.
MĂ€ntysaari noted that this approach allows fans to concentrate on the music and creates a more intimate experience for both the band and the audience.
However, he acknowledged that there is a trade-off in not being able to share photos or videos from the show.
The guitarist also mentioned that MEGADETH has been recording all of their shows, including their current farewell tour, with the goal of potentially releasing live material in the future.
Meanwhile, bands like GHOST and IRON MAIDEN have implemented phone-free policies on their tours, using technology to secure phones in pouches until they are outside the venue.
This approach aims to reduce illegal filming and non-stop selfies that can detract from the performance.
MĂ€ntysaari reflected on his own experiences with phone-free concerts and discussed the benefits of this approach, which he believes will become more common in the future.
