Megadeth have released their 17th and final studio album, marking the end of the band’s recording career.
The self-titled release has topped the iTunes Top Albums chart this week, becoming an instant bestseller in the world’s largest music market. According to Forbes, the album currently leads the list of bestselling albums and EPs on iTunes.
As reported by Forbes senior contributor Hugh McIntyre, the album is “an instant bestseller in the largest music economy in the world.” The release includes a bonus track: a reimagined version of Metallica’s “Ride the Lightning,” co-written by Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine alongside James Hetfield, Cliff Burton, and Lars Ulrich.
The album is available via Mustaine’s Tradecraft imprint in partnership with Frontiers Label Group’s BLKIIBLK label.
In support of the release, Megadeth will embark on a major North American tour beginning February 15 in Victoria, British Columbia, at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. The run continues through the end of March, with stops in cities including Ottawa, Halifax, Moncton, Québec City, Toronto, Boston, Charlotte, Louisville, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Antonio, and Mexico City, among others. Anthrax and Exodus will appear as special guests on select dates.

The tour forms part of Megadeth’s farewell run, celebrating five decades of music and influence. Over the course of their career, the band have sold more than 50 million records worldwide, earned a Grammy Award with 12 additional nominations, amassed billions of streams, landed seven Top 10 entries on the Billboard 200, and performed for millions of fans across the globe.
The final album has been met with strong reactions from both critics and fans, praised for balancing classic Megadeth aggression with fresh ideas. It stands as a definitive closing chapter to the band’s legacy.
Beyond music, Megadeth have also expanded their creative footprint. The band launched the beer brand À Tout Le Monde, which has grown into a cultural crossover success, and founded the wine label House of Mustaine, blending music, lifestyle, and winemaking.
