Professionally filmed footage from METAL ALLEGIANCE’s January 22 show at the House Of Blues in Anaheim, California is now available, featuring a live performance of the band’s new single “Black Horizon.”
The all-star group—David Ellefson (MEGADETH), Mark Menghi (KING ULTRAMEGA), Alex Skolnick (TESTAMENT), and Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER)—performed the track with guest musicians during the set. Earlier this month, METAL ALLEGIANCE released the studio version of “Black Horizon” via Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM), marking their first new original material since 2018.
The song opens with roaring riffs from Skolnick and ominous vocals from Alice In Chains frontman William DuVall, with Menghi’s bass and Portnoy’s drums driving its apocalyptic intensity. Menghi said, “Who would have thought we’d be here 12 years later with new MA music? Very excited to kick off a new era with one of my favorite vocalists.” DuVall added that he was “absolutely honored” to contribute.
Skolnick described the track as “a gift from the ghost of MA past,” built from unfinished riffs and completed with DuVall’s voice, while Portnoy said he was thrilled to finally see the long-recorded drum tracks released.
“Black Horizon” features Skolnick on guitar, Menghi on bass, Portnoy on drums, and DuVall on vocals. With two albums and an EP already under their belt, METAL ALLEGIANCE continue to evolve, and their next move is eagerly anticipated by fans worldwide.
