In a recent interview with BraveWords, founding member and guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof shared the news of Metal Church's reunion with original members.
This move comes following the death of former vocalist Mike Howe in 2021.
Vanderhoof revealed that he reached out to former Savatage member, current Trans-Siberian Orchestra member, and ex-Metal Church drummer Jeff Plate, inviting him back into the band after a decade-long absence.
With new drummer Ken Mary on board, the revitalized Metal Church is preparing to release a new album next year.
The lineup also includes David Ellefson on bass.
While there are plans for potential collaborations and tours with Savatage, these details remain undisclosed.
Plate shared fond memories of working with Howe before his passing, praising him as a 'really, really wonderful guy' and 'a great front man.'
