METALLICA frontman James Hetfield has announced his engagement to Adriana Gillett.

The news comes after the couple shared a photo of their underwater proposal on social media.

In the caption, Hetfield holds up a sign that reads 'Adriana Gillett, will you marry me?' and Gillett is seen holding a sign with a heart on it.

Gillett also took to her own Instagram account to share the news, writing "The BEST birthday trip surprise." The couple has been dating since at least 2022, when Hetfield's divorce from his wife Francesca was announced.

Despite his recent struggles with addiction and anxiety, Hetfield appears to be in good spirits as he prepares to marry Gillett.
