Frontman James Hetfield has opened up about the physical challenges of performing certain songs with Metallica, citing two tracks in particular as being especially demanding to play live.
In a recent interview on The Metallica Report, Hetfield revealed that 'Moth Into Flame' and 'Master of Puppets' are among the songs that continue to push his endurance despite the band's ongoing M72 World Tour.
"We all have our own certain songs that are a little difficult," Hetfield explained.
"'Moth Into Flame,' 'Master of Puppets,' those are two that are, 'Wow,' those are a little difficult." Despite these physical challenges, Hetfield noted that the band's current setup on the M72 tour helps balance the strain.
The circular stage and in-the-round performance configuration brings Metallica closer to their fans and enhances the sense of connection between performer and audience.
Reflecting on the realities of aging as a performer, Hetfield acknowledged: "I guess it's a testament of being human and aging." Metallica is currently scheduled to perform at numerous tour dates in 2026, including stops in Athens, Greece; Bucharest, Romania; Chorzów, Poland; Frankfurt, Germany; Zürich, Switzerland; Berlin, Germany; Bologna, Italy; Budapest, Hungary; Dublin, Ireland; Glasgow, Scotland; Cardiff, Wales; and London, England.
