In a recent interview with Christian Music Guys, Michael Sweet of Christian rockers STRYPER shared his personal journey with papillary thyroid cancer.
He revealed that he was diagnosed with the condition last fall, following a biopsy of a nodule in the right lobe of his thyroid.
The diagnosis came as a shock to Sweet, who has been experiencing health issues for several years.
"I think most people know that," he said.
"And I'm just kind of putting everything in God's hands." Sweet went on to describe how his cancer diagnosis made him reevaluate his priorities and change his perspective on life.
He emphasized the importance of being proactive about one's health, citing his own experiences with cancer detection.
Sweet also discussed his recent surgery to remove part of his thyroid gland, stating that it had been a relief to deal with the issue promptly.
Sweet's latest solo album, "The Master Plan", was released in April 2026 via Frontiers Music Srl.
The album is his most personal and spiritually resonant work yet, reflecting on themes of mortality, faith, and spiritual growth.
His band STRYPER recently released their long-awaited Christmas album, "The Greatest Gift Of All", in November 2025 via Frontiers Music Srl.
Their latest all-original studio album, "When We Were Kings", came out in September 2024."
