MÖTLEY CRÜE has released a new EP titled 'Cancelled', featuring the title track, a cover of the BEASTIE BOYS classic '(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)', and the song 'Dogs Of War'.
All tracks were recorded in April 2023 with longtime producer Bob Rock.
The EP marks the band's first new release since 2009's 'Greatest Hits' compilation, which followed 2008's studio album 'Saints Of Los Angeles'.
The release comes as part of MÖTLEY CRÜE's renewed partnership with label Big Machine, following their 2014 project 'Nashville Outlaws: A Tribute To Mötley Crüe'.
The collaboration includes a joint effort with John 5, who joined the band in the fall of 2022 as replacement for co-founding guitarist Mick Mars, who retired from touring in October 2022 due to health concerns.
The 'Cancelled' EP includes original material and a cover of a BEASTIE BOYS track, continuing the band's tradition of blending rock with diverse musical influences.
MÖTLEY CRÜE previously recorded four songs for the 'The Dirt' film soundtrack in 2018, including 'The Dirt (Est.
- (Feat. Machine Gun Kelly)', 'Ride With The Devil', 'Crash And Burn', and a cover of Madonna's 'Like A Virgin'.
The band has expressed a shift in approach to album creation, stating they no longer produce full-length records in the traditional sense.
Instead, they focus on releasing songs when inspiration strikes, such as when emotional experiences like heartbreak or rebellion prompt new compositions.
This philosophy is reflected in the 'Cancelled' EP and the band's previous work on 'The Dirt' film soundtrack."
