Portuguese metallers MOONSPELL have set 'Far From God' as the title of their long-awaited new album, due on July 3 via Napalm Records.
The LP's first single, the 'Far From God' title track, will be made available alongside an accompanying music video on March 25.
MOONSPELL vocalist Fernando Ribeiro took part in a live question-and-answer session on the band's Instagram, discussing the musical direction of their upcoming follow-up to 2021's 'Hermitage'.
The album is described as a gothic metal record that doesn't have the social or philosophical tones of other MOONSPELL albums.
It's said to be very melodic, atmospheric, delicate, and emotional.
Ribeiro explained that it was difficult to write the album due to the many changes they had gone through since their last release.
He mentioned listening to a lot of gothic music, which heavily influenced this new direction for MOONSPELL.
The band's upcoming live show 'Opus Diabolicum', held on October 26, 2024 at the MEO Arena in Lisbon, Portugal, was also discussed.
The event marked MOONSPELL's first-ever symphonic show, featuring their classics and bombastic album '1755' with a classical orchestra.
The vocalist also talked about how they decided to lean more into the gothic side of their sound this time around.
He mentioned that after the pandemic, the band had picked up life and found a new direction for themselves.
A post on MOONSPELL's Instagram confirmed the release date of March 25th for their first single 'Far From God' along with its music video and also revealed that they will unveil their cover artwork soon.",
