Danish heavy metal legend King Diamond made a special guest appearance during MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE's concert at the Alamodome Stadium in San Antonio, Texas on September 12. During the performance, frontman Gerard Way welcomed King Diamond to the stage and introduced him as a true king, referencing his iconic appearance in a top hat and black bishop's coat. The two performed the song "Mama" together with opera singer Marianne, concluding with a ceremonial knighting of Way and his bandmates, followed by flames erupting behind them.

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE has confirmed plans to release a new studio album, its first since 2010's "Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys." The band has not yet announced a release date, but stated that the project is underway and will be "awesome," driven by fan support over the years.

The band's current tour, part of the 2026 "The Black Parade" tour, spans North America and Europe. The tour features a dystopian narrative set in the fictional world of Draag, parodying fascist dictatorships. A "Great Immortal Dictator" is portrayed in video clips as a John Waters-style figure with a pencil mustache and black cowboy hat.

An expanded 20th-anniversary reissue of "The Black Parade" will be released on October 23 via Reprise Records. It includes the original album, six bonus tracks—three live recordings from a 2007 Hoboken gig and the previously unreleased B-side "Someone Out There Loves You"—and three new artworks by original cover artist James Jean. The 2006 album was certified four times platinum in the U.S. and its lead single, "Welcome To The Black Parade," reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is certified five times platinum.
