Metal fans from around the world descended on Gdańsk, Poland for Mystic Festival 2026.

The festival's unique location at the Gdańsk Shipyard marked its final year, as the event has outgrown the site and will relocate to Polsat Plus Arena after this season.

One of the biggest reasons I attended Mystic Festival was the chance to experience a metal festival held at a shipyard, but I understand the desire to grow and bring in bigger headliners.

The mix of permanent industrial infrastructure, towering cranes, and wide open spaces gives Mystic an atmosphere unlike any other festival.

There were beer gardens, food truck areas, a whole shipping district for metal merch, and lots of areas to sit and relax between bands.

Another great element was the fact that a good chunk of it was paved, which was fantastic when rain hit on the third day.

Perhaps my favourite thing about the location of Mystic Festival was the close proximity to the city core.

We ended up walking to and from our accommodations and stopping in the beautiful old town each afternoon to eat pierogies, drink coffee in amazing cafes, and even spotted Dave Mustaine walking down Mariacka Street one afternoon.

The Mystic Festival lineup this year was absolutely massive and offered something for nearly every type of metalhead.

My biggest highlight of the festival was undoubtedly Kanonenfieber.

Their intense World War I inspired spectacle was the perfect way to close out the festival's warm-up day.

Megadeth was another major highlight, drawing one of the largest crowds of the festival.

Dave Mustaine and company delivered exactly what fans wanted, a setlist filled with classic after classic.

On the final day, Death to All was THE performance.

The Park Stage was absolutely rammed.

They absolutely could have (and should have) been on the Main Stage.

The festival was not without its few small downsides.

There were a few communication hiccups which unfortunately resulted in me being unable to photograph Megadeth's set.

Band merch was also a bit of a disappointment.

Minor complaints aside, Mystic Festival 2026 was a blast.

Between the unique shipyard setting, the world-class lineup, and the chance to explore the beautiful city of Gdańsk, the trip from Canada was definitely worth it.
