Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy has long been vocal about his desire to collaborate with Opeth frontman Mikael Ă…kerfeldt, but the two haven't yet seen eye-to-eye on a project.

In a recent Metal Hammer interview, Ă…kerfeldt explains that he's open to working with Portnoy, but only if there's a clear musical purpose behind the collaboration.

If it were up to Portnoy, Ă…kerfeldt says he'd be happy to say yes to any project proposed by his fellow musician.
