In a recent interview with SLAM: Music Survival Guide, Overkill frontman Bobby 'Blitz' Ellsworth revealed that the band is 10 songs deep in their songwriting sessions for their next album, following the release of 'Scorched' in April 2023 via Nuclear Blast.

However, bassist D.D.

Verni's recent shoulder surgery has delayed recording, with Ellsworth stating that they aim to start recording by January.

Overkill will support Testament on their U.S.

leg of the 'Thrash Of The Titans' world tour, which kicks off in March 2025, alongside German thrashers Destruction.

Last October, Ellsworth told Metal Mayhem ROC podcast that the band had 'demoed out' the material for their upcoming album with Jeramie Kling playing drums for them.

Jason Bittner, who played drums on Overkill's last two studio albums, announced his exit from the band in August 2024, citing dissatisfaction with his career progress within the band.

In November 2024, Bittner admitted to 'Reckless' Rexx Ruger of Pod Scum that he 'hadn't been happy' in Overkill 'for, like, two fucking years.' He explained that he felt he wasn't being paid fairly but clarified that there was 'no animosity' and called his decision to leave 'just a business thing.' Overkill played their first concert with Kling on August 30, 2024 at the Posada Rock festival in Câmpulung Muscel, Romania.
