In a recent appearance on SiriusXM's Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, Overkill frontman Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth revealed that the band is nearing completion of their next studio album.

The follow-up to Scorched, released through Nuclear Blast in 2023, is expected to drop later this year.

"I think we're always working on new music," Ellsworth said, recalling the band's early days.

"You're always kind of in a writing mode." Musically, the material is nearly finished, with only vocal work remaining from Ellsworth.

"It's pretty much done musically," he assured fans.

"I have to add a few melody lines and harmonies." Despite the progress on new material, fans shouldn't expect to hear it during Overkill's upcoming U.S.

tour with Testament and Destruction.

Instead, the band will focus on performing their classic songs, which Ellsworth claims will be "a real treat" for audiences.

The tour kicks off March 14 in Portland, Oregon, and marks a return to the stage after a long period of inactivity due to the pandemic and personal commitments.

Notably absent from the tour is longtime Overkill bassist D.D.

Verni, who has been recovering from multiple shoulder surgeries.

Christian Olde Wolbers will fill in on bass duties for the duration of the tour.
