Page Hamilton, leader of HELMET, has confirmed he is 70% complete with his first solo album, titled 'Companion Peace,' which he is still considering whether to spell as P-E-A-C-E or P-I-E-C-E.

The album, which draws inspiration from film soundtracks Hamilton has scored over the years including 'Heat,' 'In Dreams,' 'Titus,' 'Across The Universe,' and 'Final Fantasy,' will be released via Edel/earMUSIC in Hamburg, with a target release date before the end of 2024.

Hamilton revealed that the project is rooted in soundscapes created through guitar feedback and non-guitaristic textures, working with composer Patrick Kirst at USC.

The solo album features collaborations with multiple musicians: drummer John Tempesta, who played with THE CULT, WHITE ZOMBIE, and ROB ZOMBIE, and drummer Matt Flynn, formerly of GANDHI and B-52'S, who has been with MAROON 5 for over two decades.

Bassist Pancho Tomaselli, former member of WAR and co-founder of PHILM with SLAYER's Dave Lombardo, is also set to contribute.

Hamilton noted that he has signed a one-album jazz deal with Edel, though that project is expected to be completed in 2028, assuming he lives that long.

Hamilton emphasized that the new solo work is not accessible in the traditional sense—there are no punk rock singalongs—and is instead a deeply personal, experimental endeavor.

He credited film composer Elliot Goldenthal, with whom he has worked extensively, for inspiring the album's orchestral texture, stating, 'Your guitar is like an orchestra.

You create these orchestral textures.' Co-producer Jim Kaufman, who also co-produced HELMET's 'Left' album, will oversee the project, which Hamilton described as a significant extension of his creative process.

Hamilton confirmed that HELMET will not be releasing a new album in the near future, as he is currently focusing on these solo projects.

The band, which disbanded in 1997, was revived in 2004 and has continued to tour and record.

In 2021, HELMET released a cover of GANG OF FOUR's 'Into The Ditch' for the tribute album 'The Problem Of Leisure: A Celebration Of Andy Gill And Gang Of Four.' HELMET's debut album, 'Strap It On,' was released in 1990 on Amphetamine Reptile, and the band later signed with Interscope, releasing 'Meantime' in 1992.

Their influence continues to be felt across genres, with bands like DEFTONES, PIG DESTROYER, and SEPULTURA citing HELMET as a key inspiration."
