Australian metalcore act Parkway Drive has distanced themselves from their former merch guy, Jed Gordon, after he pleaded guilty to a statutory rape charge in New South Wales.

The band made a joint statement across all of their social media channels condemning the offense and expressing support for the victim.

Gordon was linked through reports as an ex-employee of Parkway Drive, although this has not been officially confirmed by the band.

However, his conviction has left many members of the Australian hardcore community feeling stunned and betrayed.

The incident dates back to 2002, with Gordon pleading guilty to having intercourse with a minor between the ages of 14 and 16.

He had worked for Parkway Drive on an on-off basis since 2003 and was still part of their online merch team until his contract was terminated immediately following the revelation.

Parkway Drive's statement read: "We've recently learned that someone we've been associated with has pleaded guilty to an underage sex offence in 2002.

This is appalling and we condemn it.

We're gutted and we support the victim." The band emphasized that Gordon hasn't toured with them since 2017, but his involvement with their merch team was a more recent development.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage within the Australian hardcore scene, with many calling for accountability and greater scrutiny of individuals in positions of power.

Parkway Drive's statement closed comments due to the ongoing nature of the case.
