Guitar legend Paul Gilbert has released a new album titled WROC, which translates to "Rules Of Civility And Decent Behavior In Company And Conversation." The album is based on the original rules written by George Washington in the 18th century.

This unconventional concept record sees Gilbert adapting the former American President's prose as lyrics for 12 songs.

With his guitar, Gilbert explores various musical styles, including pop punk, blues, progressive rock, and shred.

Gilbert explains that he initially considered making a "normal blue album" but found it challenging to make something unique within the genre.

He confesses to being jealous of players or writers who can create high-quality music without any rough edges.

Gilbert reveals social media criticism led him away from singing for a while, although his last Mr.

Big tour saw him feeling more confident about his vocals.

The album selection process involved scanning Washington's Rules and choosing bits that could be singable.

Gilbert admits to appreciating having a collaborator in the original rules, much like Bernie Taupin was to Robert Plant with The Who.

However, he notes that not all lyrics directly translated from Rule to song, necessitating creative adjustments.

WROC has been well-received alongside Gilbert's other thematic albums, including The Dio Album.

Despite contemplating another concept record, there are no plans for a third at this time.

BraveWords Records is proud to host Paul Gilbert and his unique musical endeavors.
