In a new interview with Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station, original KISS drummer Peter Criss reflected on his appearance alongside Ace Frehley at the August 1995 taping of the KISS MTV Unplugged special.
This event served as the catalyst for the historic 1996 KISS worldwide reunion tour.
Criss said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "We were on a tour, on our own tour, Ace and I.
It was called the Bad Boys Tour.
And so we were touring together.
And it was hard times.
We weren't playing stadiums.
We were playing, like, 500 seaters, and we were missing it — we were really missing the life." Criss described how the then-lineup of KISS and himself eventually reunited, rehearsed together, and got back on stage.
He also recalled Ace's emotional reaction to fans booing the then-KISS lineup, and how that sparked a reunion tour.
Criss even shared his own experience getting back into shape with the help of a drum coach and re-watching old KISS footage to learn the band's movements again.
The drummer reflected on the historic reunion tour, which sold out multiple dates, and performed in stadiums around the world.
He noted that time stood still when they looked in the mirror before the press conference announcing their return.
Criss later stayed with the band for eight more years, but eventually left due to creative differences.
The interview also touched on Criss's life after leaving KISS, including his work with other bands and solo albums.
He even released a new solo album last December titled "Peter Criss", featuring guests like John 5 and Billy Sheehan.
