POSSESSED frontman Jeff Becerra has taken to social media to offer an update on the progress of songwriting and recording sessions for the band's follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2019 album, Revelations Of Oblivion.
In a series of Instagram posts, Becerra revealed that he is working on the final stages of the new album, stating: “I'm working on song nine for the new album.
It's a huge undertaking, and I know not everyone will enjoy my work—but it's not about that.
I write from the heart, and while I don't need everyone's approval, I truly hope those who listen will enjoy it.” Becerra previously spoke with Australia's Devil's Horns Zine in October 2025 about POSSESSED's next LP, saying: “I'm working on the last three sets of lyrics, and then the album is finished.
And it's a trip.
It's a whole different animal.
I don't know if people will love it or hate it.
I hope they love it.
It's different.
It's definitely different.” This update comes after Becerra spoke with MetalMasterKingdom.com in 2024 about POSSESSED's new material, describing it as “very cool, very heavy” and noting the band's focus on tempo switching.
Founded in the early 1980s, POSSESSED initially gained notoriety for their self-titled debut album, Seven Churches, but went on to release a string of influential albums before splitting in 1987 due to internal tensions.
The band reformed multiple times over the years with varying lineups before Becerra reunited the original lineup and released Revelations Of Oblivion in 2019.
