WDR Rockpalast has released professionally-filmed footage of Possessed playing their track ""Pentagram"" at the 2019 edition of Germany's Rock Hard Festival.

Possessed, considered one of the pioneers of death metal, have had a storied history led by vocalist Jeff Becerra.

Influenced by bands like Exodus and Motörhead, Possessed took their sound to new heights in the early 1980s with their debut demo ""Death Metal,"" which is where the genre gets its name from.

Their debut album Seven Churches features Becerra's signature vocal style, a mix of growls and screams that has become synonymous with death metal.

Instrumentally, Possessed also anticipated much of what would become standard in the genre: fast-paced riffs and complex rhythms.

The band split up at the end of the 1980s but reformed in 2007 after Becerra was shot during a robbery and became paraplegic.

Since then, they have been touring regularly again and writing new songs.
