POSSESSED has confirmed it will begin recording its next studio album in September. Frontman Jeff Becerra revealed in an interview that all 10 tracks for the upcoming release are complete as scratch tracks, with the band now focused on re-recording instruments and vocals. The new album will follow the band's established process, with guitarist Daniel Gonzalez, bassist Robert Cardenas and drummer Chris Aguirre contributing parts remotely before final sessions.

Becerra will record vocals in his basement before moving to professional studios for guitar, bass and vocal tracking. The band plans to release the album in a timely manner, with Becerra stating it will be heavy, dark and distinct from previous works. The new material is expected to feature more tempo shifts and greater lyrical depth.

This marks the band's first studio album in 33 years, following the 2019 release of "Revelations Of Oblivion". POSSESSED originally split in 1987, reformed in 1990 with a new lineup, and dissolved again in 1993. The band was reactivated in 2007 by Becerra with a new lineup, leading to the 2019 studio album.

Becerra emphasized a commitment to quality over speed, stating he aims to release one album per year once a sustainable workflow is established. The new album will represent a continuation of POSSESSED's signature sound, with Becerra noting that fans will recognize the band's unique identity through its music. The band has not yet announced a full tour or release date for the album beyond the recording timeline.
