Texas metallers POWER TRIP have released a new double single, "Precinct 3" / "Scavenger," marking their first new recordings since the passing of singer Riley Gale in 2020. The release signals the band's transition into a new era, with longtime collaborator Seth Gilmore stepping in to handle vocals. Gilmore, known as the frontman of Dallas thrash metal band FUGITIVE co-founded with guitarist Blake Ibanez, has been a key figure in the band's recent developments.

The double single was recorded in Carrollton, Texas at Empire Sound and produced by Jacob Hansen, a renowned producer known for his work with ARCH ENEMY, VOLBEAT, and AMON AMARTH. Hansen brought a refined yet aggressive sonic approach that preserves POWER TRIP's signature sound while incorporating fresh elements. The tracks are available across digital platforms and will be released as a limited seven-inch single, with a Record Store Day Black Friday exclusive set to launch on November 27, 2026.

"Precinct 3" features propulsive drumming by Chris Ulsh and aggressive guitar work by Ibanez and Nick Stewart, anchored by a 205 BPM tremolo riff that transitions into a signature half-speed beatdown. The song explores themes of unchecked authority, drawing from current socio-political climates. "Scavenger" builds on POWER TRIP's established style with mid-tempo aggression, expansive choruses, and a breakdown that challenges listener expectations. Gilmore's lyrics examine the dangers of individuals profiting from others' labor without accountability.

The singles serve as a preview of POWER TRIP's forthcoming studio album, set for release in spring 2027. The band's first performance with Gilmore occurred on December 1, 2023, at Mohawk in Austin, Texas. Riley Gale died on August 25, 2020, from fentanyl toxicity, with the cause ruled accidental. The release follows a period of mourning and artistic reevaluation, culminating in a bold new direction for the band.
