Former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant has been honored with a Record Store Legend award ahead of this year's Record Store Day.

The accolade comes as part of the celebrations for the 19th anniversary of the biggest day in the vinyl calendar.

Plant received his honor at Spillers Records, Wales's oldest record store, which is being recognized by Record Store Day organizers.

In a statement, Plant referred to Spillers Records as an institution and expressed gratitude towards its community.

The singer has been known for his associations with Wales since Led Zeppelin moved into Bron Yr Aur cottage near Machynlleth in 1970.

This year's Record Store Day takes place on April 18.

In related news, Plant and his band Saving Grace have performed on last night's episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

They performed tracks from their latest album, including the song "Higher Rock," as well as a bonus performance of Led Zeppelin's classic hit "Ramble On." A video of both performances is available below.

Plant has also seen praise for his work with Saving Grace through Metal Sludge's description of the band.

With a sound that blends elements of Hanoi Rocks and The 69 Eyes, Plant's current project continues to showcase his artistry.
