Former Kamelot vocalist Roy Khan continues working on his first solo album, which represents a new creative chapter in his career.
The album is being produced by Sascha Paeth, a renowned producer and musician who has worked with Kamelot on several occasions.
Paeth's signature sound aligns closely with Khan's artistic identity.
In addition to Paeth, the album is also being co-produced by Caio Kehyayan and Adrienne Cowan, both of whom have been deeply involved in the songwriting process.
The album promises to explore new territory within Khan's musical universe while maintaining his distinct personal identity.
A release date has yet to be confirmed.
In parallel with the studio work, Khan remains active on stage.
He has a confirmed appearance at the Bangers Open Air on April 26, 2026, in São Paulo, and will also appear as a special guest with Seven Spires at the festival's official pre-party on April 25, 2026.
Khan previously reflected on the circumstances that led to him ending his long working relationship with Kamelot during an appearance in 2021 on the "Breaking Absolutes With Peter Orullian" podcast.
He explained that quitting Kamelot was the best decision he ever made, citing personal reasons and overwork as factors.
Kamelot officially announced Tommy Karevik as its new lead singer in June 2012.
The Florida-based band has recorded four albums so far with Karevik: Silverthorn (2012), Haven (2015), The Shadow Theory (2018), and The Awakening (2023).
Khan has expressed admiration for some of Kamelot's recent material featuring Karevik, describing it as classical Kamelot sound with Tommy being a great singer.
