Legendary Canadian rock band RUSH made a surprise appearance at the Juno Awards in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on Sunday, March 29.
The show marked the first time Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson have played live under the RUSH banner since the band's reunion was announced in February.
Joining them were keyboardist Loren Gold and new touring drummer Anika Nilles.
In a brief interview with reporters after the show, Lee explained that they chose to play their debut album track 'Finding My Way' due to its historical significance: 'You really can't ask us what song to play.
If we have to choose one song, it's almost impossible.' Lifeson added, 'It's the only song we know how to play.' Lee and Lifeson will begin their first official shows under the RUSH name in June at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, site of the last RUSH concert on the band's 'R40' anniversary tour.
The 2026 leg of the 'Fifty Something' tour, which covers Canada, USA, and Mexico, initially consisted of 22 dates but has since expanded to include 58 shows across 24 cities with over half a million tickets sold for 2026.
In February, RUSH announced additional South America and Europe tour dates for the 'Fifty Something' tour in early 2027.
The band will perform two sets each night at their European shows, which begin on April 20.
Each show will feature a distinct selection of songs from a catalog of over 40 songs.
In discussing the challenges of putting the massive tour together, Lifeson acknowledged that they have always rehearsed for a long time before hitting the stage: 'We just really wanna be at our absolute peak by the time we start the tour in earnest.' Lee added that Nilles is incredibly talented and that fans have been very welcoming to her.
The tour announcement was met with an overwhelming positive response from RUSH fans, taking them by surprise: 'Our new management was very heartened and very bullish,' Lee explained.
After a three-year battle with glioblastoma, legendary drummer Neil Peart passed away in January 2020 at the age of 67.
