Metal band Sabaton has released the findings of a study they ran last month on the most searched for music genres online.
The study, which used Google's Keyword Planner to track search volume data in the UK across an entire calendar year, showed that rock and metal make up two of the top five most popular genres.
According to the research, rock is ranked at number one with over 20,000 more searches per month than the fourth-ranked genre.
Pär Sundström, Sabaton's bassist and manager, agrees with the findings, stating: "It's fantastic to see both rock and metal ranking so highly in these search results." The study also highlighted the enduring popularity of rock music in the UK, citing its rich history and cultural significance.
"Rock music's enduring popularity in the UK isn't surprising when you consider its deep roots in British culture," Sundström said.
"The New Wave of British Heavy Metal in the late 1970s and early 1980s had a profound influence on global music culture." The full findings of the study can be found below.
