Guitar legends Joe Satriani and Steve Vai have unveiled their first collaborative studio album, titled "The Sea Of Emotion," set for release on November 6, 2026 via earMUSIC. The announcement coincides with the release of the album's new single, "Mayhem." The project began in 1973 when 13-year-old Steve Vai started guitar lessons with 17-year-old Joe Satriani in Long Island. After decades of separate careers and shared performances on the legendary "G3" tours, the two musicians have finally recorded together.

The album was conceived during a "G3" reunion tour that created a scheduling overlap. Satriani initially sent Vai two completed pieces—"The Sea Of Emotion, Part 1" and "Part 2"—which sparked the collaboration. Despite sharing deep musical roots, the two artists write in fundamentally different styles, a contrast that shaped the record's dynamic structure.

The album features a trio of tracks centered on "The Sea Of Emotion" suite, with "Part 3" beginning with a vintage reel-to-reel recording from one of Vai's early lessons with Satriani. The track listing includes "Mayhem," "Bronco Freight Train," "Zoot Suit Riot," and "I Wanna Play My Guitar," which features legendary singer Glenn Hughes. The rhythm section includes drummers Gregg Bissonette, Jeremy Colson, Kenny Aronoff, Matt Chamberlain and Mike Mangini, and bassists Billy Sheehan, Bryan Beller, Philip Bynoe, Matt Bissonette, Marco Mendoza and Henrik Linder.

The release follows Satriani's 2024 and 2025 tours, including the "G3" reunion and the SATCHVAI tour, and Vai's global performances supporting his album "Inviolate." The project marks a significant personal and musical milestone for both artists, representing a long-awaited convergence of their individual styles and histories.
