Saxon has confirmed the release of a new studio album titled 'Gods Of Thunder', set for January 2027.

The album follows 'Hell, Fire And Damnation', released in January 2024 via Silver Lining Music.

Andy Sneap, longtime producer of Judas Priest and Exodus, completed mixing the new record, with production shared between Sneap and Biff Byford.

The band's upcoming LP continues their legacy of influential heavy metal music, with the band noting that their sound still resonates with modern audiences.

In 2025, Biff Byford revealed he had undergone chemotherapy for bowel cancer, which led to the cancellation of several shows and the postponement of others.

Earlier that year, he also underwent a procedure for atrial flutter, a heart rhythm disorder.

In September 2019, Byford suffered a heart attack and underwent emergency triple bypass surgery.

These health challenges prompted the cancellation of 10 summer shows and festival appearances in 2025.

Saxon has also experienced a touring lineup change.

Guitarist Paul Quinn announced his departure from touring in early 2023, resulting in the cancellation of the South American tour and the Monsters Of Rock cruise.

Quinn has since been replaced by Diamond Head's Brian Tatler, who has been touring with the band since mid-2023.

Byford and Quinn remain the only original members in the current lineup.

The band has maintained a strong presence in the metal community, with their music continuing to connect with fans through social media and live performances.

Saxon, formed in South Yorkshire, England, has sold approximately 23 million albums and produced classic tracks including 'Denim And Leather', 'Princess Of The Night', 'Wheels Of Steel', and 'Power And Glory'."
