Guitar Meets Science has shared a new mini-documentary exploring the history of Saxon, from their early days as coal miners and factory workers to their rise with the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal.
The documentary covers every facet of their journey, including their early triumphs, disastrous attempts at commercialization with synths and yacht rock covers, and their triumphant return to their heavy metal roots.
In a special post on Saxon's social media channels on August 15, 2025, frontman Biff Byford discussed battling cancer following his recent diagnosis after the bandās Japanese Tour in late April.
He will undergo āmopping-upā chemotherapy treatment.
On August 19, 2025, Biff shared an update addressing some misconceptions about his condition and upcoming tour dates.
The Saxon singer clarified that he has bowel cancer, not prostate cancer, and while some shows have been postponed due to his treatment schedule, their special UK & Ireland Hell, Fire & Steel tour dates this November are still going ahead as planned.\ This will be the final time the band plays their classic hit album Wheels of Steel from start to finish in the UK.
