In a recent interview with Paul McNamee of The False Face, bassist Shane Embury of British/American grindcore pioneers NAPALM DEATH spoke about the health issues that have forced his absence from some of the band's recent tours.

He revealed that he has been struggling with pancreatitis, which he developed through drinking, and that he had to leave the MELVINS tour last year due to health reasons.

Shane went on to discuss how he has been reassessing what's going on in his life, including his touring schedule and personal relationships.

He admitted that there were also issues at home which exacerbated his erratic behavior.

Embury explained how he had been trying to balance his time between his music career and his responsibilities as a husband and father.

He discussed how music still drives him but now wrestles with the responsibilities of being a family man.

Shane Embury's debut solo album, "Bridge To Resolution", was written and recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic and is described in a press release as "a deeply personal work shaped by a period of reflection and upheaval in Embury's life." The album documents a journey from despair toward resolution, with Shane performing all guitar and bass parts himself.

Joining Embury on the album are Carl Stokes (ex-CANCER) on drums and Simon Efemey handling production duties.

Despite his current health issues, Embury remains an integral part of NAPALM DEATH, having been a member since 1987 and featuring on 15 of the band's 16 albums.

In related news, Embury released his autobiography, "Life?… And Napalm Death", via Rocket 88 in 2023, which discusses his struggles with mental and physical health, addiction, and bullying.
