Sharon Osbourne led tributes in Birmingham on Wednesday as thousands gathered outside St Andrew’s Cathedral, where a private funeral service was held for her husband, Ozzy.
The heavy metal legend died last July following a heart attack, as confirmed by his death certificate.
The funeral was attended by 110 close friends and family, including Ozzy’s former BLACK SABBATH bandmates, along with Robert Trujillo (METALLICA), Rob Zombie, Zakk Wylde, Marilyn Manson, and Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT).
Sharon, accompanied by their children Aimée, Kelly, and Jack, joined mourners outside the cathedral for an emotional tribute.
Ozzy’s final performance took place just seven months ago at the Back To The Beginning charity concert in Birmingham. During the show, he reunited with the original BLACK SABBATH lineup—Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—before performing four classics: “War Pigs,” “Iron Man,” “N.I.B.,” and “Paranoid.”
The 76-year-old performed seated on a black throne and was visibly emotional throughout the set.
Sharon, a driving force behind BLACK SABBATH’s reunion shows, reflected on Ozzy’s legacy during her speech, calling him “a pioneer in metal, known for his unique sound and charisma on stage.” The Birmingham tribute marked another poignant moment for fans around the world.
