SHINEDOWN has confirmed bassist Eric Bass is stepping away from touring to focus on his mental health.

The decision follows a personal mental health crisis that Bass revealed in an Instagram Reel posted July 10.

Bass stated he did not feel it was appropriate to participate in the current North American leg of the band's 'Dance, Kid, Dance Act II' tour, which began on July 11 in Mount Pleasant, Michigan and concludes in early September.

Bass, who has been with SHINEDOWN since 2008, is undergoing talk therapy and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation at The Medical University of South Carolina.

According to the Mayo Clinic, TMS uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to improve symptoms of major depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

In the absence of Bass, Josh Sturm of KAIROS and Zack Mack, who plays with SHINEDOWN singer Brent Smith and guitarist Zach Myers in SMITH & MYERS, will fill in for the tour.

Both musicians learned 45 songs in four days to prepare for the performance.

Bass expressed hope that his return would be 'sooner rather than later' and encouraged fans to seek help if they are experiencing a mental health crisis.

He emphasized that asking for support is not a sign of weakness, saying he had never done so before in his 51 years and that it led to healing.

Eric Bass released his debut solo album, 'Eric Bass Presents: I Had A Name', in 2025.

The project is described as an immersive, expansive, and richly thematic work.

The band has long advocated for mental health awareness, partnering with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and speaking candidly about depression and addiction in live shows."
