Veteran Florida death metal outfit Six Feet Under are preparing to unleash their fifteenth studio album, Next to Die, due out April 24.

The new record features 12 tracks and represents a creative high point for the band, blending fast, aggressive death metal with the groove-heavy sound that helped define the group's early years.

Guitarist Jack Owen explained that the album began as a collection of pure death metal songs before evolving into something more varied.

It started out as an album full of death metal songs with speed and aggression, then Chris had the brilliant idea to keep half of those death metal songs and add some groovier songs in the vein of the early Six Feet Under material.

The pair approach songwriting independently before bringing their ideas together.

Owen stated, We don't discuss lyrical themes, we each write what we're feeling.

We just write what we find interesting.

The album was produced by Barnes and Owen and mixed and mastered by Mark Lewis at MRL Studios in Nashville.

After returning to U.S.

touring in 2025 – their first domestic run since 2013 – the band is eager to bring the new material to stages worldwide.

We enjoy being on the road, wherever it is, said Owen.

Every day is different.

The album has enough great material to give us the opportunity to play these songs plus lots of our older classics to fans around the world.
