The 2026 GRAMMY Awards took place February 1 in Los Angeles, with rock, metal, and alternative categories presented during the premiere ceremony at the Peacock Theater.
Canadian alternative metal breakout Spiritbox performed “Soft Spine” during the afternoon ceremony. The track earned the band their third GRAMMY nomination, landing in the Best Metal Performance category, though they ultimately went home empty-handed.
The award went to Turnstile for “Birds.” The band also claimed Best Rock Album for Never Enough, marking one of the biggest rock wins of the day.
Yungblud won his first GRAMMY, taking Best Rock Performance for his live cover of Changes by Black Sabbath. The performance was recorded at Back To The Beginning, the final live sendoff for Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath last July at Villa Park. Sharon Osbourne joined the group onstage to accept the award.
Industrial veterans Nine Inch Nails won Best Rock Song for “As Alive As You Need Me To Be,” taken from the upcoming Tron: Ares soundtrack. The band were not in attendance.
The Cure dominated the alternative categories, winning Best Alternative Music Performance for “Alone” and Best Alternative Music Album for Songs Of A Lost World.
