In a new interview with Donny Fandango of the St.
Louis radio station 105.7 The Point, STAIND guitarist Mike Mushok discussed the band's future efforts and their upcoming album.
He stated that while he thinks the band will continue to explore experimental sounds on their future albums, as seen in their latest LP "Confessions Of The Fallen", there are no concrete plans or guidelines for how they should sound.
Musok emphasized his excitement about making music with STAIND again after a long hiatus, saying, ""We kind of developed a way of doing ['Confessions Of The Fallen'] that we did on this [upcoming] one, so there really wasn't as much anxiety that went along with it." However, he also acknowledged the challenges that come with exploring new sounds and praised guitarist Erik Ron for his work in adapting some of Musok's guitar parts to incorporate electronic elements into their music.
When asked about what new musical elements he would like to explore on future STAIND albums, Mushok replied, ""To me, it's just really about trying to write great songs.
It's really just kind of trying to take what we do and make it better."" The interview comes as the band continues its 25-date "Break The Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour" with Seether as direct support and Hoobastank and Hinder as openers, celebrating their groundbreaking album that cemented their place in rock history.
After a decade-long hiatus from recording, STAIND released their first studio album since 2011's self-titled effort last year with "Confessions Of The Fallen", followed by an extensive world tour supporting the record.
