Former MY DYING BRIDE singer Aaron Stainthorpe has launched a new project titled TOWARDS THE SINISTER, dedicated to performing the band's classic early material. The project features three of his former bandmates—guitarist Calvin Robertshaw, bassist Ade Jackson, and drummer Rick Miah—along with second guitarist Chris Revett, keyboardist Mark Deeks, and violinist Emma Allington. The lineup is focused exclusively on the band's first four studio albums and associated EPs, including tracks such as "As The Flower Withers," "Turn Loose The Swans," "The Angel And The Dark River," and "Like Gods Of The Sun."

TOWARDS THE SINISTER will begin with a series of small warm-up gigs in England before securing European festival slots by summer 2025. The band has confirmed a setlist that will include the majority of the early canon, with performances planned to last between 40 and 90 minutes depending on the venue. A full setlist will be released as the tour progresses, with the intention of playing the early material for at least one year before potentially introducing songs from later MY DYING BRIDE releases.

The announcement follows MY DYING BRIDE's official breakup with Stainthorpe in October 2024, after which the band continued with vocalist Mikko Kotamäki for live performances. Stainthorpe's departure was described as a 'misunderstanding' by him, though he has since stated he no longer engages with the band's online discourse. His new project is a tribute to the original era of MY DYING BRIDE, emphasizing the music created during its formative years.

Stainthorpe's last solo release, the album "Forever We Burn" by his side project HIGH PARASITE, was released in September 2024 via Candlelight/Spinefarm, produced by Gregor Mackintosh of PARADISE LOST. The new project marks his return to MY DYING BRIDE's foundational sound and remains a celebration of its early, dark, doom-infused legacy.
