SYMPHONY X has confirmed it will begin recording its next studio album in September, following years of creative development and an extensive accumulation of musical material. According to guitarist Michael Romeo and vocalist Russell Allen, the band has been working on the project for over a year, with Romeo having compiled approximately 10 hours of material—much of it created during breaks between tours.

Allen emphasized that the gap between albums has grown due to the band’s self-produced, studio-centric process, where creative momentum is disrupted by touring schedules. "Mike's a mad scientist, genius guy," Allen said. "He needs to be locked in his world. When we stop, he starts something, stops, and then forgets what he was doing."

Despite the long timeline, the band believes the new album will be of high quality, with a strong thematic foundation drawn from the vast body of material already developed. Romeo noted that the process has become more complex in recent years due to the absence of CD royalties and the need to maintain touring activity. "It's not like we're just writing one song and then filling the rest with filler," he said. "Everything has to be as good as it can be."

The band plans to finalize the composition and arrangement of the material before entering the recording phase, with the goal of reducing the gap between releases compared to past albums. Allen added that the new album will be a true reflection of the band’s artistic legacy, prioritizing quality over speed. The full album is expected to be released in 2025, with the band aiming to deliver a cohesive and meaningful work that honors their musical journey.
