Critically acclaimed death metal force Temple Of Void have released their new album, The Crawl, out March 6 on Relapse Records.

The band has also shared the official lyric video for the track “Soulburn,” which features scenes from the album’s artwork created by Travis Smith.

The Crawl marks a new chapter in Temple Of Void’s evolution, with the quartet (featuring guitarist Alex Awn, drummer Jason Pearce, vocalist/guitarist Mike Erdody, and bassist Justin Malek) incorporating non-metal influences into their sound to create a heavier, more dynamic album.

The band’s signature death metal style is still intact, but it’s now married with elements of grunge and post-punk.

According to Alex Awn, the band felt no need to stick solely to the “death-doom banner,” allowing them to add their own spin to the genre.

Erdody has built on the themes of psychology and fear present in Summoning The Slayer with lyrics that explore the horrors of the human condition and our capacity for evil.

The Crawl was recorded at Kurt Ballou’s GodCity Studio in Salem, MA, where the band aimed to create a “human-sounding,“spontaneous record.

This is evident in the album’s raw-edged guitar and bass tones, as well as Pearce’s in-the-room drum sound.

Temple Of Void are now pre-ordering The Crawl on LP/CD via Relapse.com here Link.
